Aye Thet: experienced physiotherapist
“I’m Aye Thet Su Mon, 21 years old. I’m from Myanmar. I’ve joined this project because I want to make comfortable shoes for people with special needs. I don’t have experience with tools and machines, but I do have experience working with disabled people, because I’m a physiotherapist working at The Leprosy Mission in Myanmar.”
Aye Thet sharpens her knife
“In our country, most people wear slippers, but nowadays we also wear shoes. We often find foot problems with people who have leprosy, cerebral palsy or congenital hip dislocation. At home we have a shoe making workshop, but no qualified people and machines. That’s why I’m here.”
